🏷 The Harry Potter Book Tag 🏷

Happy Birthday Harry Potter! For Harry’s birthday I have decided to do a post dedicated specifically to Harry Potter and do this tag. I’ve seen it floating around and when I googled Harry Potter Book Tag, I knew I had to do it, so let’s just jump right into it.

harry potter and the prisoner of azkaban1. Favorite book

My favorite book in the Harry Potter series is Prisoner of Azkaban. I just loved the marauders so much and I especially loved how they were able to go to Hogsmeade now and the setting in general. My favorite book will forever be the third one.

2. Favorite movie

I think my favorite movie is the first one. I loved all of the movies, but the first one just feels the most nostalgic to me.

3. Least Favorite Book

My least favorite is Chamber of Secrets and I think that is a very popular opinion. I don’t know why, I mean a lot of series have a second book slump, although I’m having a harder time finding such books, and Chamber of Secrets sadly falls into that category.

4. Parts of the books/movies that make you cry

Every single character death. Especially the character death in book 5, I wept like a baby while I was reading the book and while I was watching the movie. That was back when I still wore mascara, it did not look pretty.

5. Favorite character

This is really hard to pin point for me, but my favorite character is definitely Hagrid. I love Hagrid so much, I mean, my blog name is inspired by him. I am also a huge fan of Sirius obviously and Luna Lovegood, but Hagrid just sticks out for me a bit more.

nebelung cat patronus.jpg

6. What would your Patronus be?

I did the Pottermore patronus quiz and I got the Nebelung Cat. At first I was upset that I only got a cat, but when I looked more into the meaning of the Nebelung Cat I noticed it was after all a perfect fit.

7. If you could have the Resuralbus_dumbledore_zauberstab-elderstab_harry_potter_zauberstaebe-21915ald you choose?

I know a lot of people go for the invisibility cloak, but personally I would go for the Elder Wand. That’s one of the most powerful wands and then I would first of all have a wand in general, and I feel like I could do a lot of good with such a powerful wand like getting rid of plastic or saving endangered species.

8. What house would you be in?

I am a Hufflepuff through and through. I love Hufflepuff, I am super proud of my house and generally just really happy to be a Hufflepuff.

9. If you could meet any member of the cast, who would it be?

I think this one’s the same for a lot of people, but I would definitely want to meet Emma Watson. She is such an icon.

10. If you were on the quidditch team, what psnitch.jpgosition would you play?

I feel like I would be the Seeker. I don’t know why, I don’t feel like being the keeper and definitely not a beater, but I really feel like I could be an okay Seeker. I’m good at spotting things and I feel like I could fly really high.

11. Were you happy with the ending?

I mean yeah, who wasn’t? But I feel like Neville and Luna could have been together in the end or little nit picky things like that.

harry poztter quote12. How much does Harry Potter mean to you?

A shit ton man. A lot. Harry Potter obviously means a lot to me, I have an entire shelf dedicated to Harry Potter and I turn to Harry Potter frequently. I love how I’ve found a home in Hogwarts, I love the world that JK Rowling created so much and I feel like I’d be a completely different person if it weren’t for Harry Potter.

This was my Harry Potter book tag, I love Harry Potter a lot and I don’t think there will ever come a time where I don’t love it. I will make sure that my children read Harry Potter, it’s a series that will definitely be around for ever. If you also love Harry Potter, definitely give this tag a go if you haven’t yet! 🤗 🤗

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

shatter meTitle: Shatter Me

Author: Tahereh Mafi

Genre: YA, Dystopia

Publisher: Harper Collins

Release Date: November 15th, 2011

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ¾

Goodreads Summary: Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war – and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

My time has come, and I have finally read Shatter Me. This was my first read for the Summer Biannual Bibliothon 2018 and I just flew right through it. Shatter Me kept me interested the entire time, but it didn’t really make me think.

Shatter Me has the most beautiful writing. I noticed this when I read Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi last year, but it just completely blew me away because somehow I forgot how amazing it was? Shatter Me was a bit different writing wise and it took me a little bit to get used to, but by the middle of the book I hardly noticed it anymore.

So much goes down in this novel, it was fast paced but not a bad sort of fast paced. This was my first dystopian read ever and I was not let down, I can’t wait to continue the series later this year. I like how this book was slightly more romance heavy because that made the transition for me really easy from happy contemporary to dystopian.

The thing that I loved most was Juliette’s powers. I thought that just a quick touch from her or a scrape can instantly kill you, but there’s more to it. It is insane how she can literally suck the life out of you. And then she has the random power where she can break concrete, I lowkey want to find out more about that.

The book was good and everything, but the only thing that bothered me was that I finished it and I didn’t feel a sense of completion? Maybe because I just read it so quickly, but the book didn’t really make me think that much. I feel like this is a very solid start to a series, and I’m really hoping that it’s only uphill from here.

Now, this has nothing really to do with the book, but one thing that bothered me was definitely the fandom. I’m sorry, right now I’m team Adam because I think he’s great, but everybody only talks about Warner. My problem with that is that I feel like the girl who just read ACOTAR and who is team Tamlin while the rest of the reading world has read ACOMAF and is team Rhysand. I don’t want to know what Adam is going to do because I am really on his side right now and I am rooting for him, and I see potentional in Warner and I actually just want him to be happy because he’s so young and lonely, but I don’t know what else is going on.

Plus, just a side thought from me: If anything happens to James, I will cry for days and no one will be able to stop me. He is such a precious bean. And Kenji gives me life.

I really enjoyed this book, I loved the characters, I really liked how Tahereh Mafi explained the setting and I can’t wait to continue this series. Obviously, I recommend this, but I feel like the last person to have read this book, so you’ve probably read it and enjoyed it already. 😂🤗🤗

🌞Booktubeathon 2018 TBR🌞

This is insane, two readathons so close together and I am participating in both! I successfully finished the Summer Biannual Bibliothon 2018 with flying colors and I’m planning on doing that too for the Booktubeathon. Plus, Booktubeathon now has a certificate if you finish all of the challenges, and I really want that because I just want to hang that up on my wall.

9 days and 9 nights1. Let a coin toss decide your first read

This was really tricky, because I cannot for the life of me do coin tosses, but I managed. A lot of trial and error, but between Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch and 9 Days & 9 Nights by Katie Cotugno, 9 Days & 9 Nights won, so that will be my first read for the booktubeathon

final draft2. Read a book about something you want to do & 6. Read a book with a beautiful spine

I’ve talked about it a lot, but I really want to become an author, at least as a hobby. And Laila, the main character of Final Draft by Riley Redgate writes a lot of sci-fi and takes a writing class and that is really something that I want to do. Plus, the spin is really pretty because I think it matches the story really well and I can’t wait to read it.

harry potter hufflepuff3. Read and watch a book to movie adaptation

I don’t have a better pick for this besides Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I don’t know, I would pick The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken but it’s over 500 pages and the movie doesn’t come out in time in Austria, so I’m going with Harry Potter. If there are any other book to movie adaptations I could read that would be great but I feel like I’ve read a big majority of them.

love & luck4. Read a book with green on the cover

I am definitely reading Love & Luck for this one, I am such a huge fan of her debut novel Love & Gelato, so it’s needless to say that I am super excited for this one and I cannot wait to read it. Plus, the leaf is green.

5. Read a book while wearing the same hat the whole time

This is such a fun challenge, really unique, kind of impractical. For this one I’m going with Quidditch Through the Ages by J.K. Rowling. This is a short book, so it’s going to be easier to wear a hat the whole time.

hogwarrts library7. Read seven books

I have to pick two books for this since I doubled up challenges 2 & 6. But, I am going to be reading the rest of the Hogwarts Library which just includes Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and The Tales of Beedle the Bard. I know, these are such cop out choices, but I really want to complete the Booktubeathon successfully and still be able to do stuff with friends.

In 7 days I have to read 1444 pages, which, not gonna lie, will be a handful, but I feel like I will be able to read 206 pages a day, I just need luck on my side and no sickness. 🤗🤗

🏝️ Oh, The Places My Books Will Go! 🏝️

Hello everybody, today I am here with an unexpected post. I decided to write up the books that I have taken on vacation with me. Let’s jump right into it!

the unexpected everythingThe Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

Where I took it: Poland

I was in Poland with my class a couple years back and I honestly had a great time. The food there is amazing, the sight seeing that we did was super fun and I loved my time there. Now, I never really got around to reading since I had so much to do, but The Unexpected Everything was with me and it now has even more memories than it did before (i.e. me spilling hot chocolate on it)

cinderCinder by Marissa Meyer

Where I took it: London

I was on a class trip again and we went to London. I really didn’t think I would read in London and I didn’t because I was having so much fun with my class and I can’t wait to go back to London. Especially since I really want to see the Harry Potter Studios, but I took Cinder with me and I read like 10 pages on the plane before I fell asleep because planes are like the perfect place for me to sleep. I didn’t really get into the story, but two years later when I finally read the books I did, and I will forever remember having Cinder with me.

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

Where I took it: Nice

Again, I was on a class trip and I actually did end up reading Tower of Dawn. Since I can’t swim, I wasn’t able to go on the water so I just soaked up the sun on the beach and read my book. I had a lot of fun and Tower of Dawn kept me interested. I did end up cracking the spine, but it’s impossible to not with UK paperbacks, when Kingdom of Ash comes out that’s going to be a real chore trying to not break it.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Where my friends took it: Croatia & Corsica

So, I’ve lent Anna and the French Kiss to both of my friends and they took it on vacation with them. I have a lot of memories of Anna and the French Kiss now and it doesn’t even look that bad. It’s been read loads of times, more than my other books, and it’s still in pretty good condition. I even made one of my friends walk down to the beach and take pictures of my book. That is how committed I am.

Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins

Where my friend took it: Croatia

I totally forgot that I lent out Isla and the Happily Ever After to the same friend two years ago. She again took a picture of it from her apartment because she has one that close to the beach. Seeing these pictures really makes me want to go back to the beach.

Words in deep blueWords in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley

Where my friend took it: Corsica

Before my friend went on vacation, I gave her like 5 books to take with her because she said she had nothing to read and she wanted to read the book that we would be buddy reading but that wouldn’t work because I have my readathons. So right now she is in Corsica with Words in Deep Blue which she has already finished and really enjoyed, Anna and the French Kiss and Now A Major Motion Picture. I’m so happy she’s reading them.

So these are the books I’ve taken on vacation / my books that friends have taken on vacation. I really want to go to the beach now, and I had fun reminiscing on old memories. 🤗 🤗

🕰️ 24 Hour Readathon TBR 🕰️

Hello everybody, I have spontaneously decided to do a 24 hour readathon with my friend. I’ve been watching a lot of ReadbyZoe’s videos and she frequently does a 24 hour readathon. However, she does read for the entire 24 hours and doesn’t sleep, but I will be sleeping because I hate coffee and energy drinks. This is like readathon set on hard. I’m going to try to read 3 books, which are:

the beauty of darknessThe Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson

I’m already a couple hundred pages into the book and I just want to finish it. I love the book so much and I can’t wait to see how it will wrap up the entire series. Plus, I’m reading this just in time for before Dance of Thieves comes out, a spin-off that is also set in the Remnant Chronicles universe.

the burning mazeThe Burning Maze by Rick Riordan

I think I’ve been spoiled for this book because of very obvious fan art, but I’m not checking anything, but I really need to find out if it’s real. Plus, it’s been too long since I’ve read a Rick Riordan book and I’m just super in the mood for it.

a shadow bright and burningA Shadow Bright and Burning by Jessica Cluess

I started this book nearly a year ago or something, and I never got around to finishing it. I got like 50 pages or so into it and I liked the vibe of it, I just never felt inclined to continue. Well, until I was putting together the TBR and really felt like reading it already.

These are the books that I’m planning on reading for my spontaneous readathon with my friend. I think she’s going to try to finish Lord of Shadows and I can’t wait to talk to her about it. I will post a wrap-up soon, wish me luck! 🤗 🤗

🏷 Pray For The Wicked Book Tag 🏷

Hey everybody, today I am going to have a lot of fun since I am once again combining my love for books with my love for music. Panic! At The Disco released their album Pray For The Wicked a little bit over a month ago now, and I saw Hardbackhoarder doing this tag, and I knew that I had to do it too. I love their new album, the only thing I hate about Panic is the fact that they still have not released European Tour Dates. I just want to know if they’re coming here or not, but I get no dates.

vampire academyy 1*(F*** A) Silver Lining* A book you didn’t expect to like but loved / a not so great book that had a silver lining that kept you hooked

When I read Vampire Academy, at least the first book, I knew that it wasn’t quality but I only read it for the entertainment, but I actually really ended up enjoying it. I’m on the fourth book now (have been for 2 months). I did not see it coming that I would actually like the book or the characters since I cried at the end of book 2 really hard.

onyx*(Say Amen) Saturday Night* Either a book you were thankful was over OR A book you could spend all Saturday night reading

I will never forget the time that I stayed up until 3 AM to read Onyx, and I just looked in my WhatsApp chats because I remember talking to my friends about being up at 3AM to read Onyx, and it just so happens that I was up ’till 3AM on Sunday, which means I spent all Saturday night reading it. It was like 2 years ago Maxi knew I would need it.

empire of storms*Hey Look Ma, I Made It* A book you felt accomplished for finishing

In 2016 a great reading slump hit me. I managed to read the Throne of Glass series until all of the sudden, I could not get through Empire of Storms. It was impossible for me to get past the reading slump. So the slump lasted from December 2016 up until mid- February 2017, and I don’t even know when the slump would have been over if it weren’t for my ear infection. So, needless to say, I was so happy when I finally finished it.

save the date morgan matson*High Hopes* A book you had high hopes for but fell flat

I don’t like this question because High Hopes is a really happy song for me and the lyrics are basically having High Hopes and when you do you will achieve what you want, you just need to go for it. I am therefore changing the prompt to: A book you had high hopes for and were not disappointed. I hyped up Morgan Matson’s newest book, Save the Date, for so long in my head, because she really is one of my favorite authors and I was like: yeah it’s never going to be as good as I imagine to be.’ But then I read it, and it was just as good as I was imagining it to be, if not better. I had such high hopes and I was not disappointed.

the fault in our stars book cover*Roaring 20s* A book that makes you feel nostalgic

Whenever I think of The Fault in Our Stars, I always think of a simpler time. I think of little 13 year old Maxi having no troubles in her life and having no idea what she just let herself in on. It makes me happy to think that The Fault in Our Stars was my turning point, it was the point when I liked books again and I will never forget it. Even if I can’t believe that I was 13.

six of crows*Dancing’s Not A Crime* A book that BookTube makes you feel is a crime for loving/hating

I have talked about this before, and I still feel like if I end up hating Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, I will be shunned by the entirity of the book community. It really is one of my greatest fears and I think that’s why I keep putting it off more and more. It will definitely be a crime if I hate it, but next month I’m just going to read it and hope for the best. I feel like I’m going to like it anyway but it’s so hyped so I’m really scared.

obsidian-by-jennifer-l-armentrout*One of The Drunks* A book you got drunk on that left you in a book hangover

Mentioning The Lux Series again, I read the entire series in a week. So, needless to say, I was suffering from such a book hangover, no book compared in my opinion, I missed the characters, the only thing that saved me was Anna and the French Kiss because I knew that it would save me.

the problem with forever.jpg*The Overpass* A Book that deals with a difficult subject matter

I don’t talk about this book nearly as much as I should, but the Problem with Forever by Jennifer L. Armentrout completely wrecked me and I still think about it even though I read the book a year ago. The main character had a terrible upbringing in her adoption home that still scarred her so much that she’s now mute. It’s not enough that she’s dealing with that, but the scenes from her past were so intense and then there’s a murder, it was a really crazy book. I know a lot of mental health books deal obviously with mental illnesses and those are also very difficult subject matters, but I just had to shine a little light on The Problem with Forever.

fangirlspecial2*King of The Clouds* Your go to book to lift you up when you’re feeling down

I gravitate toward Fangirl so much when I’m down. I’ve read it 4 times but I am always up for another reread. I love the characters so much and the book generally gives me a lot of hope and I just love it a lot.

Harry Potter 1*Old Fashioned* Your favorite book published before the year 2000

I have to go with Harry Potter since it’s the only book I’ve read that was published before 2000. I mean, not the only book, but the only book that matters. Harry Potter is just such a classic and I can’t wait to reread it soon.

now a major motion picture*Dying in LA* A book that you love that is underhyped

I have mentioned It Only Happens in the Movies by Holly Bourne a lot for when I am asked this question, but recently I read another book which I haven’t seen very many people talk about and I really loved it. That book being Now a Major Motion Picture by Cori McCarthy. If you’re a fan of Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, you will definitely also be a fan of this book.

This was my take on the Pray For The Wicked tag, I love Panic so much and I really really hope they’re coming to Austria when they finally announce European tour dates.

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson // Spoiler Free Review

the heart of betrayalTitle: The Heart of Betrayal

Author: Mary E. Pearson

Genre: YA, Fantasy

Publisher: Henry Holt and Co.

Release Date: July 7th, 2015

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Summary (for The Kiss of Deception): A princess must find her place in a reborn world.

She flees on her wedding day.

She steals ancient documents from the Chancellor’s secret collection.

She is pursued by bounty hunters sent by her own father.

She is Princess Lia, seventeen, First Daughter of the House of Morrighan.

The Kingdom of Morrighan is steeped in tradition and the stories of a bygone world, but some traditions Lia can’t abide. Like having to marry someone she’s never met to secure a political alliance.

Fed up and ready for a new life, Lia flees to a distant village on the morning of her wedding. She settles in among the common folk, intrigued when two mysterious and handsome strangers arrive—and unaware that one is the jilted prince and the other an assassin sent to kill her. Deceptions swirl and Lia finds herself on the brink of unlocking perilous secrets—secrets that may unravel her world—even as she feels herself falling in love.

This book has been sitting on my tbr since the day it came out, and I was in the middle of it for so long until the sudden urge to read the book hit me out of nowhere and I took advantage of it.

In this review, it really will be spoiler free. Not only for the second book, but also for the first book because I feel like not a lot of people have read the Kiss of Deception.

I read the Kiss of Deception years ago, and I really enjoyed it, but it was a bit slow paced and very different for my usual taste, that was around the time that I just got into fantasy, so I am much more experienced now with Fantasy and can appreciate it better.

This book has something about it, that just takes my breath away. The way it’s written, it feels like such a story. Like obviously all books are stories, but the fact that it’s set in this whole new world with new politics and everything leaves me so stunned. I know that there are a lot of series out there that are like this, some that I’ve even read like ACOTAR or Throne of Glass, but they just don’t really feel like I’m really in a different world, they don’t feel as much like a novel like The Heart of Betrayal. Plus, I would definitely recommend listening to the audiobook, because I did half-half and I think that just improved my experience.

The characters are so individual there isn’t one like the other. The magic system in this series and the political intrigue is like nothing that I’ve ever read before, and I really think of this series as unique and one-of-a-kind.

And if you’re feeling iffy on picking up this series, it gives me serious Grisha trilogy vibes. The Komizar and the Darkling are a lot alike, so if you liked the Grisha trilogy I feel like you’d really enjoy The Remnant Chronicles.

I genuinely love this series so much, the second book is miles better than the first, and if the third book is just as good as the first two, it will definitely find a space on my favorite series shelf. It was actually really hard to write this review because I just want to talk about what happens in this book, but I can’t, so please pick it up 🤗🤗.
